Happy New Year!

It’s a New Year, with new ideas and new hopes and plans.  It’s been pretty quiet in this space lately, as we focused on the holidays.  I also took a writing class with Christina Katz from the end of October through Mid-December.  Most of my writing energy went into that class instead of this blog, but now I look forward to being back in this space more regularly again.

I owe you a couple of trip reports.  After Thanksgiving we went hiking in the Columbia Gorge, and the kids and I did a hike in the foothills to PooPoo Point.  (Yes, you are allowed to giggle at that name.)   Today we had a great beginning to our year and went on our first ever snowshoeing trip.  In the next week or so I hope to catch up on these, before we get too many more trips under our belts.

Heading Up the Trail

Yesterday an essay of mine was posted on the ParentMap blog about how we became a hiking family.  If you’re new to my blog, go check it out!  You’ll learn a bit about who we are and what we’re doing. We have lots of ideas for things we want to try this year, new trails, new adventures.  One goal that got away from us last year was to go backpacking with the kids.  We are determined this year, and are closer than last to reaching our goal.

Have you made any New Year goals for getting out into nature? Share them with me in the comments! If you need some ideas, hop over to the WTA blog, where they have some great ideas to inspire you. I look forward to sharing more adventures with you in the coming year.
