The Hiker Mama

Bellevue Botanical Garden

Distance: There are just under 2 miles of trails in the Garden.

Elevation Gain: Trails are flat to moderately sloping.

Season: Year-round

Description: Children and adults will all find something to enjoy in this 53-acre garden in the heart of Bellevue. Stroll the winding paths (many are suitable for strollers, though dogs will need to stay at home) and enjoy the beautifully designed gardens in all seasons. My kids have particularly enjoyed the waterfalls, rock gardens, Japanese garden, and areas filled with native plants. The garden is open daily from dawn until dusk; the Visitor Center is open from 9-4. Admission is free (except for the special Garden D’Lights exhibits in December) and parking is free and does not require a permit. There are restrooms available at the Visitor Center.

Directions: From I-405 take the NE 4th St exit (Exit 13A). Turn east onto NE 4th Street, then turn right onto 116 Avenue NE. Make a left onto SE 1st Street; take the 1st right onto Main Street. The entrance to the garden is about 3 blocks down on the right.
