Washington Park Arboretum

Distance: Variable; there are several miles of trails

Elevation Gain: Flat or gently sloping

Season: Year-round

Directions:  From I-5 in downtown Seattle, take Hwy 520 East to the Montlake Blvd. Exit.  Go straight through the light, continuing on Lake Washington Blvd. E. Take a left on Foster Island Road, and then turn right on Arboretum Drive NE.  The visitor center and parking lot are on the left.

Description:  This wonderful urban oasis has several miles of trails wandering through woodland, ornamental gardens, and marshy waterfront.  From the visitors center you can walk south through the main arboretum, or walk north to the marshy areas and Foster Island.  Watch for birds or just note what plants are attractive during the season you visit.
