Residents of Washington State will be able to visit state parks without purchasing a Discover Pass on Sunday and Monday, March 18 and 19. These free days are two of the days mandated by the Legislature to offer to the public. They are in celebration of the State Park System’s Birthday.

What is your favorite State Park to visit? One of ours is Deception Pass State Park on the northern tip of Whidbey Island. We love the beaches, wild forest, rocky outcrops, and fabulous assemblage of plants and animals. We’ve had some special times there as a family and alone. I hope you are able to get out with your kids this weekend and enjoy some time at a park. Check out their website at http://www.parks.wa.gov/and search for a park near you. Pay attention to winter hours, as some parks are not open yet for the spring and summer recreation season.
